DON'T PANIC

Your public information, whether on facebook or any other location on the web, has always been public. Hence the word p u b l i c. Politicians and news media can get people going about things at the drop of a hat.
The wonderful thing about most social networks and other sites is that you have an option of what you make public. Of course if you are not in business or you are hiding out for some reason, this could really be an issue. However, if you want your name out, what better mode of free advertising can you think of.
My paranoia comes in what they are using the propaganda being spread to cover. What are we taking our focus off of when we are panicking over things that really mean nothing.
Think about it and remain in control. Don't let someone else control you!

MY FIRST WHAT?

Do you ever walk away from an encounter and wonder what someone was thinking? I think, truth be told, we all do. Last week on one of my other blogs I told how my grandmother used to say "First impressions are everything!" She was definitely correct and it applies big time with business pursuits. Regardless of your occupation the card you hand someone may be all that keeps you on top of the pack for a final choice on who to hire or do business with. People are impressed with nice things and that includes nice presentation pieces.
High gloss finishes and high definition photos say that you believe you value yourself, leaving the impression (even if subliminally) that someone else should value your services as well. A good provider will be able and willing to give you references of their work.
No, you can't judge a book by it's cover, but sadly that is what happens. Present yourself well, it WILL be remembered.

BUSINESS CHOICES CHANGE YOUR TOMORROWs

Some social media networks let people know that you have blocked them. This could be a problem only if the person you block is someone you (a) care about (b) cares about you (c) could help you in business or politics (d) could hurt you in business or politics.
To find out if a media shows the person that they have been blocked, work with a friend through each of your groups and block and unblock each other. Simpler yet, ask someone that knows the answer if you cannot find it on the sight itself.
The decisions you make on this type of media WILL make a difference in the way that others see you. Remember that just because a person is in a business like yours, or someone else you like and respect, does not mean you should show them disrespect. Often like business play off of each other very well.
Have a great day today expanding your network!

TV this week.

Well, we watched 'V' this week and the theme continued but didn't move forward but about an inch. I think we would have enjoyed it more if commercials didn't seem longer than the show. In our area we had to watch the same little old lady go into a bathtub with her robe on 3 ads in a row (guess she couldn't get clean). My husband took long breaks and would come back in plenty of time to see the next segment.
Then later in the week, last night actually, we watched a really exciting 'The Mentalist'! It wasn't really the episode we had been waiting for as advertised, but it was really good. I guess they think if they catch Red John the whole show is finished, but I think this one could go on for a lot of seasons even without this particular villain. It was a final way to eliminate the boss, guess the contract didn't meet his needs. Leaves the door open for Patrick Jane though....... we shall see! (He could tell us if he looked at the script writers in the face and asked them their favorite color.)

VETERANS DAY IN THE NEWS

Wars continue, soldiers are dying. This last week in our news at home deaths occurred once again in our homeland.
It seems so small a tribute to have one day to raise the flag to say we support you. Oh yes, a big deal will be made today, but what about a week from today, or even on Thanksgiving? In fact in some places in our own country people are objecting to the raising of the flag or having it on a car.
Wake up America, these are the people you will expect to protect you when danger comes.

A TRUE 'NATIONAL TREASURE'

I wonder how many kids have tried to dig under the streets in Philadelphia after watching "National Treasure" for maybe the sixth or seventh time. It was on tv again last night and Nicholas Cage was just as exciting as I remembered.
What is it about being chased while doing the right thing that is always so exhilarating to the viewing public. Oh, and running like crazy and being caught by people who don't seem to be moving nearly as fast as you!
I think this movie is indeed a national treasure, even if most of it was a little far fetched. We will probably be watching it in another ten years and still feeling like we are going to fall through the old staircase at any minute.

IT WAS GOOD

The 2nd episode of White Collar was good. I do have a question to ponder. Why does the boss (ultimate authorities) in all of these kind of shows have to be intolerant, abrasive and think they are smarter than the underlings and especially the main character who they see as sub human? Examples would be The Mentalist, all of the CSI shows including NCIS, all of the Law and Order shows, and on and on. This year the superiors in Monk are viewing him as the best detective ever, but why not, they are ending the show with this season.

I think this kind of reasoning influences our society into thinking that anyone who is somewhere in an authoritative role in their lives has got to be against them. MAYBE IT IS JUST ME!
